I have struggled with confidence issues my whole life and while it comes and goes, here’s how I give myself an instant confidence boost.
I want you all to first and foremost know that this post is coming from a girl who has struggled with confidence and body positivity issues her entire life. I have always been afraid to raise my hand in class, even if I knew the right answer. I lived my teenage years sitting with pillows covering my mid-section so that no one could ever see my “problem area.”
Whenever we had Blake, I knew that I needed to change.
Not that Branden didn’t matter, but things are just different with girls. I needed to know that I wasn’t going to put any of my body issues on her.

So whenever I say that I know a lot of my fellow mama’s struggle with confidence, it’s because it’s something I personally struggle with every day, too. It might not always seem that way, though, as I give myself pep talks before I jump on a Facebook Live and am typically talking about things I’m super passionate about, too.
Motherhood brings on so many waves of emotions, too, because there is no “right” or “wrong,” no handbook to tell you exactly how to handle every situation. We second guess ourselves became we aren’t always sure and in turn, this can impact our overall confidence levels on a daily basis.
Here’s how I cope:
I take lots of pictures.
I know this might sound crazy, but whenever you have people that you love take pictures of you who truly see the beauty in you, it’s really an incredible thing. Get in front of that camera, mama!
I surround myself with people who cheer me on.
This is one of the most important things ever. Don’t surround yourself with debby downers, make sure the people in your life are your cheerleaders and that you, in turn, are giving it right back to them.
I practice self-love mantras every day.
I repeat these self love mantras to myself typically whenever I’m working out, as well as a lot of “you’ve got this!!” It’s amazing what they do for your overall confidence levels.
I workout daily.
Yup. Even if it’s just an evening stroll with the dog and the kids, I get my body moving every single day. Not sure how to fit in a daily workout? Read this post, mama, it will help you find the time.
I buy new clothes that make me feel amazing.
If you haven’t checked out my mom style section on the blog or used my guides to narrow down your body shape, you are missing out! There is something so cathartic about shopping or even just going shopping in your own closet that makes you feel wonderful. Get up. Get dressed. Throw on a little makeup and boom, instant confidence boost!

I diffuse some essential oils.
I’m a huge fan of essential oils and know that fragrance does wonders to change your mood among many other benefits. I diffuse many of these essential oils for self-care on a daily basis and they are just wonderful to have handy for a daily confidence boost.
I journal.
Sometimes you just need to get whatever it is you are feeling inside down on paper and then you can either delete, throw it away, or save it as part of your journal. I have some amazing journal prompts for self-discovery here that really help you look deeper within yourself. Whenever you feel connected with you, you will feel more confident.
I step away from social media.
Sometimes you just need a break and as amazing as social media can be, it can also do a number on your self-confidence because it can lead you to play mind games with yourself. Whether we intend to or not, we start to compare what’s going on in our lives with everyone else’s highlight reels and it can lead us to go to bad places. Step away, mama. If you need a little help with that, I have a wonderful social media detox guide here.
I play some music.
Music just does amazing things! While most of the time Blake insists that I have on the Moana Pandora Station, I sneak in listening to some of my favorites whenever I have the chance and it does wonders for my mood. If you need some ideas, check out these mood booster playlists for moms.
I help others.
It’s so important that we use the gifts that we have to help others succeed. I recently started business coaching (if you’re interested, you can learn more HERE) and I’m just obsessed with watching so many amazing women take their ideas and turn them into businesses that help their families financially. For an instant confidence boost, get out there and help some people in need.
