I recently had a weight gain wake-up call, so I’m logging my journey with you all to hold myself accountable and share my tips along the way.

A couple of weeks ago, I went to put on my jacket that my parents got me for Christmas just 2 years ago, and it wouldn’t zip. Yeah, that one hurt my ego. And you all know how much I pride myself with living a healthy lifestyle, so this was a wakeup call for me.
If you guys have followed along since I’ve had Blake, you know that I love the keto diet and am almost always following a super strict low carb lifestyle. However, I’ve definitely gained weight over the past year. I know that a lot of it is muscle weight, so I’m not being too hard on myself, but it’s the extra 20 pounds or so of fat that is really bothering me.
I have been toying for a while with the idea of finally purchasing the Pruvit exogenous ketones, which are the only bioidentical ketones on the market (translation: hella expensive). NASA even holds the patent to these babies. So I finally bit the bullet and bought a couple of packs to finally give them a try. (I will keep you all updated along the way in case you are considering purchasing.)

In addition, I’ve always been against owning a scale since I will kinda become obsessed with the numbers and for me, that is really unhealthy. However, I finally bought one that is pretty cool and Bluetooth friendly on Amazon so that I can track my progress.
I’m glad that I bought the scale because the numbers are actually pretty alarming and shows just how much I’ve gained (over 20 pounds in just under 2 years). While I don’t necessarily agree with their recommendation for me to drop down to 113 pounds, I know that I am carrying some extra weight that needs to go buh-bye.
So I thought: what would be a better way to hold myself accountable than to put everything out on the Internet?
Moving forward, I’m going to be posting bi-monthly updates of my weight loss journey as well as specific tips, recipes, workouts that I love that have kept me on track.

My hope is that this will help anyone else who is currently stuck and know they need to make a change in their life.
So I’m going to be brave and put out my before and after pictures and all the details about my weight as well as what I’m doing right now, every single day to help move that scale backwards. And I also want to note that I am keeping the scale on the third floor of our house, that I only really use for working out, so that Im not tempted to jump on it all the time. My goal is to weigh in just once a week, since numbers can fluxuate greatly even on a daily basis.
On Friday January 1st, I weighed in at 158 pounds (gulp), which is must too high for my 5 foot 2 body.
My goal is to lose 20 pounds by March 31st and I’m rewarding myself with getting a tattoo on my foot/ankle that I’m pretty darn excited about.
I started back with strict keto on January 2nd and added the Pruvit exogenous ketones to my diet on January 5th.
Here is what I’m doing each day:
- Following the keto diet (I say that I do dirty keto because I don’t always track macros, if the scale doesn’t move then I will switch things up.)
- Intermittent fasting (I follow the 16/8 method)
- Drinking at least 100oz of water each day (I split it up between lemon water and sparkling water)
- Switching up my fitness routine and working out 6 days per week with a mixture between barre workouts (I’ve been loving this one from PopSugar on Youtube), running on the treadmill (we have this one, except with the smaller screen), and using our rowing machine (we have this one). Chris just ordered a new weight bench for pretty inexpensive on Amazon, and I also finally got some 5-pound weights so that I can workout using more reps and build definition, not bulk.
- Replacing a few meals per week with KetoChow. You guys know that I love this product and they make it SO easy to stay on track!
I will be weighing in regularly each Monday and keeping you all updated.
I also wanted to give you all some insight on my goals with the Pruvit exogenous ketones: Both my mom and my sister use these on and off and I will be adding them in at most every other day, just to give me a boost.
I am also doing my very own fast/reboot today where I’m fasting for 40 hours and drinking nothing besides water, ketones and organic bone broth. The Pruvit company does run their own version of this, but again, it’s very expensive.)
So those are my thoughts! As always, I’m not a doctor or medical professional, just a mama sharing her journey.
