5 Foolproof Ways To Beat Monday Blues
Monday can be tough, there is no doubt about it. After all, it is the first day back at it after a weekend of relaxation and fun. There are some Mondays where I rise with my alarm clock ready to take on the world, and others where I wake up in a rushed panic because I completely forgot to even set the alarm. Sound familiar?
As the new school year approaches, there will be a whole new set of Monday morning adventures: like making it to the bus stop in time. So I thought with “motivation” being on my mind in all areas of my life lately, I would tackle the notorious “Monday Blues” and give you some foolproof ways to beat those cursed Monday blues and come out on top of your game.

Ways to Beat Monday Blues
Whether you are heading to the office, or getting the kids off to school and running home to complete household chores and do computer work, the vigor that we feel inside when we approach the new week isn’t always there. Here are some key ways to get yourself excited about Monday! (And don’t forget – a new week means a fresh slate for starting anew!)
1. Get up and get moving!
I realize that in general, the days that I feel most down in the dumps are the ways where I don’t start my morning with some type of exercise. Even if I plan on doing yoga at 11am, a late start drags my morning and I find myself quickly rushed and overwhelmed. Stop that. Get up, get the kids to school and then get moving right away! I have found this to be honestly the most important tactic to beat Monday blues and is just good for your health, too. Here are some more ways to get motivated and energized!
2. Dress for success.
No, I don’t mean that you need to get up and dress camera ready every day, but especially if you work from home (like me) and work in your pajamas, that alone can make you feel down. Get your workout on and then change into something that you wouldn’t be embarrassed to be wearing if the mail person unexpectedly came to the door. Here’s my favorite postpartum style roundup!
3. Prep for Monday on Sunday night.
Whether it is packing lunches (I pack one for B and Chris most nights before) or writing a to-do list for your morning – prep is key. Take 5 minutes to think about these few things that need to be accomplished so you won’t feel overwhelmed when Monday hits you. This is a great meal to batch cook for the week!
4. Schedule something to look forward to on Monday morning.
This is key in getting a great start to the week – by doing something you love. Schedule coffee with your bff, a run, heck even sometimes knowing that I get to stop in Duane Reade for some new beauty products makes me happy. Whatever you need to get you looking forward to Monday morning – do it!
5. Don’t dwell on it.
It’s Monday, the first day of the week and there is NO avoiding it. In fact, it’s going to appear next week, too. So stop complaining and just embrace the day!

I may be crazy but I love Mondays! It’s a clean slate, a fresh start… I tend to wake up without my alarm and take advantage of the quiet before the rest of the family gets up. I figure if I make Monday great I’m setting my week up for success!

Dress for success is a good point. Everytime I really feel dumpy- I notice that my mood improves ten-fold if I get dressed in something cute, fix my hair and put on some make-up. My favorite music doesn’t hurt either. Great tips!
