You’ve probably read a lot of these lists and I really hope that you walk away after reading mine with a new perspective on Sundays. I also feel like the word “habits” tend to always have negative connotations, so I’m shaking things up there, too. So let’s crank up our positive, productive, lazy Sunday habits (yes lazy: because Sunday mornings should be easy, duh) so that we can take on the rest of the week with a little less stress and and a little more organization.

7 Sunday Habits to Prepare For a New Week
We don’t get many days off in this world. Saturdays and Sundays are seriously some coveted, precious time – and it totally should be. At the same time, I always try to carve out some time on Sundays to do things that are a mixture of getting me prepared for whats to come on Monday, while still getting some much-needed R&R.
Why am I so intentional with my time instead of just going with the flow? Well, motherhood for one thing makes it a necessity to make sure things like laundry is done and lunches are ready to be packed for the next day. But beyond that, I really do try to live my life with that mantra of not putting off until tomorrow what I can do today.
1. If I can’t get myself organized, I at least get the kids organized. Let’s face it: Sunday’s can bring out the lazy, so I’m pretty practical about what I can and cannot accomplish on this day of the week. I try my best to get myself organized (i.e. do laundry, etc), but if I’m just not feeling it then I let it go and make sure that at least the stuff for the kids is all organized. I’m talking backpacks at the door, trumpet practiced, showers taken, and everything in between. Basically, all the necessary things so that I don’t wake up and scramble Monday morning.
2. I become a wellness warrior. Sunday’s are all about wellness to me and my tike to do the things that I just don’t have the time for during the week. This almost always means that I do my Beautycounter Charcoal Face Mask, move my body in some way, and take off last week’s nail polish and give my cuticles some major hydration. Nothing fancy, but totally necessary.
3. I tie up loose ends with work stuff. Basically, if there were overlooked emails or my Clean Beauty Facebook Group needed a post for the weekend, I make sure to do those things so that they don’t take up time during the week when I need to be working on new things.
4. A big family Sunday dinner is a must. Sundays are for togetherness! There is nothing that fills my heart with more contentment and joy than making sure that we have a lovely dinner together. It doesn’t need to be anything special, but due to our crazy weeks, if we get in a few of these, it’s super impactful for our family. Also, due to Chris’s schedule “Sunday night meals” sometimes happen on different days of the week. And I also don’t always have time to make a nice dinner, so I reserve week night meals for crock pot meals and even sometimes ordering in.

5. Speaking of dinner: I figure out some idea of what we’re doing for dinner throughout the week. Even Blake lately has gotten in the habit of asking me what’s for dinner every single night. I’m just going to write this off as me just being a REALLY good cook. But this question also gives me anxiety, especially whenever I have no clue what I’m making. I always take a second on Sundays at some point in the day to scan what we have in the freezer and fridge, and do a little mental meal planning.
6. Know what kind of crazy Monday will bring with a to-do list. My Monday to-do lists are always the longest and the busiest. It’s so important that I have this written and thought out the day before.
7. Set my intentions for the week. This has been a new addition to my Sunday habits that has been really impactful for me personally. I use a little bit of time, even whenever I’m drifting off to sleep Sunday night, to think about what I want to accomplish and how I can channel the most positive energy into our household. It’s been incredibly helpful.
