Whenever I first started my quest to launch the Relationship Building Activities blogging series, I set out to make it a monthly thing. That was the goal anyways…but then life happens, and you get a little off track. (Just like with relationships, right?) The first activity was rock climbing, which we conquered in Relationship Building Activities #1: Rocking Climbing at Brooklyn Boulders, which was a fun day of experiencing new things together.
This month, my husband and I set out to spend a day doing…well…nothing! I guess you could kind of say that we did nothing and everything all at the same time, but it was unplanned and we just really went and did what the mood struck us to do. We both took the day off and decided that we would cram in as much as we could that day, as long as we made it home by 4pm to get our little man from school.
We started our adventure at the Brooklyn Museum, where we stopped in to visit each of our favorite exhibits. My husbands being the Egyptian wing and mine being the European paintings. It was fun to see all the different art that inspires each other, and we even got a little carried away with all of the picture taking! I might have a new favorite New York City museum!
After our morning at the museum, we headed over to one of our favorite lunch spots nearby, SPICE in Park Slope. This is an awesome Thai place that we are pretty obsessed with, and you can’t beat a NYC lunch special. We both even tried something new on the menu…because it’s good to step out of your comfort zone every once in a while!
We ended our day at our absolute favorite coffee/bar in “the slope” called The Tea Lounge. It’s the best hangout to relax at year round, as they offer sweet treats (which I indulged in), coffee, tea, and a bar. During the evenings they have scheduled performances of all different types of music and poetry readings. Perfection! We hung out here until the last possible minute, then made it home just in time to get Branden.
It was a much needed day for enjoying ourselves together and unplugging a bit (except for instagramming a few pics from the day!). We discovered that every once in a while we need to say “let’s take a day off and have an adventure!”
What is your favorite relationship building activity?

What a great series, Allison! I love your ideas of other things to do to spend time together. For me and my hubby we easily get stuck in the rut of just going out to dinner or spending time watching our current favorite show. Thanks for the suggestions. I’m excited to see where you and Chris go next!
