Whether your family is heading somewhere fun for spring break or you are enjoying a “stay-cation” in your home city, it’s always nice to take a moment and enjoy a great beach read that inspires your everyday life. I try to always keep something fun on the table next to my bed to read that doesn’t always require a ton of thought, since sitting and reading a book is a rare moment and it can take…oh…months to get through a chapter (No matter how much I’m enjoying the book!)!
The Perfect Beach Read
The book that I’m currently enjoying right now is the style expert Rachel Zoe’s new book Living in Style: Inspiration and Advice for Everyday Glamour, and despite its size, it is seriously the perfect beach read for summer ready! I can honestly say that I’m hooked and here is why YOU will be, too:
• You don’t have to be interested in fashion (I promise!) as she delves into ALL issues of living a glamorous lifestyle!
• You will instantly be captivated by all the intriguing pictures and quotes that you will have a hard time putting it down, even if it’s past your bedtime.
• As a new mom herself, Zoe touches on how she keeps work, family, and play balanced in order to live the best life possible.
• Looking to get stylish in the decorating category? Zoe dives right in to her tricks for putting together a beautiful nursery, choosing wall hangings, planning a chic dinner party, and how to choose the perfect scents to have in your home.
• Lastly, it’s a great book for busy women to read because you can place a book mark in when you need to take a break and pick up three months later if need be. It’s simply perfect for the beach or vacation because you can skim and look through pictures with one eye while the other is focused on your kiddos!
Top 5 Tips Every Mama Appreciates from Living in Style:
1. Carry a style kit whereever you go. You don’t need to be a stylist to have an outfit malfunction! Try keeping these basics in your purse that that you will never have an “oh S&%t moment:” safety pins, Static Guard spray, travel size deodorant, travel sized lint roller, stain remover pen, wipes, mini sewing kit, and bobby pins.
2. Never carry anything fake. I’ve talked about this before, but Zoe reinforced it in this book. Counterfeit anything is pretty much as far out of style as anything could possibly get.
3. Learn to define your style and what works for YOU! There is no need to always get caught up in aiming to be on trend and just parroting what Vogue says. So find your individual style and work it like a pro!
4. Take note of your “hero kit.” This kit is simply the beauty essentials that you can’t live without. Narrow it down to your five or six absolute favorites and keep them in stock at all times…hide them in kitchen drawers if you need to—you never know when you will need a touch up!
5. Fill your home with things that inspire you. Your home is your own little Grand Central Station, so make sure you take the time and energy to create it in a way that will inspire you everyday. With your personal touches, your home can be a place that your whole family can feel both comfortable and passionate in.
