I don’t always have time to sit and relish in the wonders of a great book anymore, and I know it’s a struggle for all moms, too. Here’s my no fuss, summer reading list that will get you excited about picking up a book again!

The Summer Reading Book List (For Moms Who Don’t Have Much Time to Read)
To be completely honest with you guys, the last books that I picked up and read were Cheryl Strayed’s Wild and Paula Hawkin’s The Girl on the Train. Yup. It’s been a while. The funny thing is that as a writer, I truly do relish in those moments of reading the vivid descriptions that other writer’s use in their work and truly enjoy reading as much as for pleasure as a learning experience, too. And if you’ve read my posts on our living room redecoration, you know that our tiny apartment is lined with bookshelves – the problem is that I have pretty much read them all.
This summer has some big changes coming for the Cooper family (stay tuned, I promise I’ll be sharing everything soon), and reading has always been something that helps with my mental health and anxiety, so I’ve decided to make sure time for my summer reading list. After all, it’s a huge part of self care, too.
5 Books on my summer reading list
So, here’s what I’m planning on reading this summer!
1. #GirlBoss by Sophia Amoruso
I know, I know: I’m late to the party on this one. But I’ve honestly been feeling like a need a little nudge in the inspiration, get my shit back together direction and being a girl boss myself (or a mom boss, however you want to look at it), I love the vibes that this book will bring to my life. And I don’t really think that you need to be a business owner or an aspiring entrepreneur to get in the #girlboss bandwagon – full time SAHM’s totally fall into this category, too!
2. Fitness Junkie by Lucy Skyes and Jo Piazza
Being a fitness lover myself, and of course, wanting something light-hearted and fun to read, I’m really, really excited to add this one to my collection. The descriptions shares that it’s the story of “one woman’s attempt—through clay diets, naked yoga, green juice, and cultish workout classes—to win back her career, save her best friend, and lose thirty pounds.” I think that every single mom can relate!
3. When Life Gives You Lululemons by Lauren Weisberger
This one is a New York Times bestseller and topped the reading lists for summer 2018 on Cosmo and so many more – so I knew it belonged on my list, too! This book is the sequel to the beloved The Devil Wears Prada and is said to read as if it is the Real Housewives of Greenwich. The story follows Emily Charlton after she leaves the grasp of Miranda Priestly. I’m sold, how about you?
4. Small Great Things: A Novel by Jodi Picoult
My mom is a HUGE fan of Ms. Picoult but I have admittedly not yet dug into one of her novels, even though I hear nothing but wonderful things. This one is soon to be a movie, so if you want to get ahead of the curb, order your copy today! The reviews are said to be one of her best, as she tackles tough issues like privilege, race and power and I can’t wait to get my hands on it!
5. The Not So Perfect Mother: A feel good romantic comedy about parenthood by Kerry Fisher
I think the title pretty much says it all with this one! The reviews say that “The Not-So-Perfect Mother is a laugh-out-loud-funny and romantic Cinderella story with a twist. Perfect for fans of Emily Giffin, Jennifer Weiner and Sophie Kinsella.” I’m ready for anything she sends a little humor my way about the highs and lows of parenting on a daily basis – I think we could all use a little bit of that in our lives!

These are perfect reads for me! I love the genres, I am a mom, and I have ZERO time. I have to check these out.

I think I’d pass on the girl boss one. I recall there being a lot of controversy about her after the book was published.
