5 Ways Having a Low Sugar Diet Makes Me a Better Mom
I know that being a perfect mom doesn’t exist, but I know there are also a million different ways that I can be the best mom for my kids every single day. Believe me, I’ve had more instances than I would like to share where I’ve lost it lately, but I’m human and on the days where I do make sure that self-care is a focus of mine, then I’m sure to have a better day. At this point, you all know that self-care for me means getting my workouts in, eating a balanced diet and keeping a low sugar diet. In fact, it’s now been over a year since I’ve first introduced you all to my low sugar diet with Sweet Defeat and I’m so proud to say they are still part of my life today.
If you haven’t read my previous Sweet Defeat posts, I have linked them throughout this post, but want you all to know that it is simply a mint tasting lozenge that melts on the tongue that you take whenever you feel a sugar craving coming on, to help calm them. If you are a self-proclaimed sugar addict (like me), it will be something handy that you keep in your purse, car, diaper bag – you just never know when a craving will strike.
First, check out their 7-day sugar detox plan and step by step for how to cut sugar craving once and for all.
Why a low sugar diet is so important
Whenever I’m living life with a low sugar diet, things are just so much better every day. It’s not easy, and sugar will always be a challenge for me, which is why I’m so thankful for Sweet Defeat. I mean, being a mom is a tough job, but it’s much easier whenever all of these low sugar diet benefits are flowing through my body. You’ll see what I mean. Promise!
You will sleep better.
No mom ever said that she didn’t want MORE sleep, this is a fact. So if a slight change in your diet can take the little amount of sleep that you might already be getting and turn it into BETTER sleep, then it’s time to make that adjustment ASAP. Blake just recently started waking up about 40 minutes before our alarm even goes off, so yes, I’ll take all the quality sleep I can get these days.
You will have more energy.
I know it sounds weird, but whenever your body adjusts to living on a low sugar diet, you will feel energy boosts instead of the 3pm slump. And guess what else? No more crashing whenever an energy boost fades.
You will have fewer sugar cravings.
As soon as your brain craves sugar and you give into that craving, even if its just one piece of candy, it triggers your brain into wanting more. This is where your Sweet Defeat will come in handy every single time. And as soon as you have gotten more disciplined, which is really easy once you detox, the number of sugar cravings that you have will decrease, too.
Your skin will be clearer.
Truth: I still struggle with adult acne. But my breakouts happen so much less whenever my low sugar diet is being practiced on a daily basis without any cheating. Whenever I cheat, I know that a breakout will happen almost immediately.
You will better be able to manage your weight.
Whenever I’m in control of my weight I feel so much better. And whenever I’m feeling better about myself you best bet that I’m smiling more. Like I said earlier in this post, sugar is my nemasis and whenever I let my guard down is when alllllll the cravings come for sugary foods and those sugary foods turn into weight gain. Having that in control will let you manage your weight in a pretty significant way.

I honestly wish that I knew back in high school, what I know now about healthy eating, fitness and living life with a low sugar diet always. I know that I would have felt so much healthier through some if the hardest years, but you live and you learn, right? I swear that I’m healthier and stronger now than I even was back in those days and I KNOW that Sweet Defeat has played a key role in that.
XOXO,
Allison
