Making healthy choices isn’t always easy, especially during the holiday season. I’m excited to share my tips for navigating this season with a fitness and healthy-minded attitude.

Truth: there are so many goodies and holiday events happening over the next month that will set you up for failure if you’re trying to maintain or lose weight. Now don’t get me wrong – I’m all about balance! Believe me, I live for the sweet treats that the holiday season brings. However, the key is not to go overboard and stick with a routine that you can actually manage on a daily basis. This is why I start every day with Buoy electrolytes.

How I’m Making Healthy Choices This Holiday Season
To make things as easy and transparent as possible, I thought I would take you all through a day in my life whenever I know that I will be having a fun, holiday night out. Translation: I won’t have my healthy alternatives to turn to while I’m at dinner this evening. Tonight, I’m going to something called “Purse Bingo” for the first time with our church ladies group and I’m pretty darn excited about the possibility of winning a designer bag. We’ll see if the odds are in my favor.
First, I wake up at 6 am every day to get the kids on the bus. I walk down to the kitchen and get my coffee, probiotic drink, and my water bottle filled with my Buoy electrolytes. Yes, I know, it’s a lot of drinks that I’m circulating in between, but it really helps me to get my day started. What I especially love about Buoy electrolytes is that they are unflavored, so I can put them in pretty much any drink I want and they go undetected. I know a lot of women I talk to about electrolytes are put off by the sugar substitutes and the flavors that some contain, and you don’t have to worry about that with these.

My goal is always to drink at least half my water bottle, plus all my other drinks while I get the kids off to school and then spend an hour or so working before I switch into my workout clothes. I typically eat a greek yogurt while I work. Yes, I’m letting you into my crazy with this post and admitting that I march around the house to reach my 10-11k step goal each day or run to the gym for an hour for a leisurely treadmill walk. Go ahead, watch the video below, and get a good laugh at me.
I work out 5 times a week, lifting weights. My program is as follows:
Monday: Back/chest
Tuesday: Leg day
Wednesday: Active rest day (I aim for getting 13k steps this day instead of my regular 10-11k)
Thursday: Arms/abs
Friday: Back/Chest
Saturday: Full-body
Sunday: Rest Day

Lunch
When lunchtime rolls around, I aim for something high in protein, low in calories to eat. On a typical day, I’m a huge fan of scrambled egg whites with cottage cheese or a cottage cheese pizza bowl, but on a day like today when I know I will be consuming extra calories this evening, I opt for a protein shake. I will also fill up my water bottle again, and this time add in the Buoy electrolytes with energy so that I am able to power through my afternoon and still be vibrant for my night out.
Snacks
On a typical day, I have 2 snacks in the afternoon. One is almost always dry roasted edamame and one is typically my favorite protein bar. On a day like today though, I typically just opt for the protein bar since it is lower in calories and higher in protein to fill me up until I eat while I am out.
Dinner
This is where I give myself wiggle room. I LOVE food and it’s so important to me that I never restrict myself from eating foods that I love or having treats – especially during the holidays. I’m going into the night out not knowing what they will be serving, but also knowing that I will be mindful, not restrictive of what I’m eating.
Overall, that is a typical day in my life as a 38-year-old mom who is in a calorie deficit and trying to navigate the holiday season in the healthiest way possible! I hope that you check out Buoy electrolytes as a part of your healthy routine through the holiday season and beyond!
