Getting ready for each new day has given me a new outlook on life, my career, and my mental health. There is so much power in that, which I’m sharing with you all today.

I have been a work-from-home mom since I can remember. I wake up and start my day with my kids, get them off to school and then have the house to myself as I get through my lengthy to-do lists. Sometimes I pause to run errands. There have been times when I have spent my entire day in my pajamas. I’m sure that other moms out there can relate.

As I shared earlier this month, during the end of 2024, I cut ties with a very toxic company and am now a full-time business owner again, with now a second company under my belt. I know as soon as I needed to step back into these complete Mom Boss shoes and harness that CEO mindframe on a daily basis that something had to change in terms of how I approached the day. I sat with those feelings for a little bit of time, unsure of exactly what to do right away to help shift my attitude and get in the right headspace. And then I realized what it was.

The Power of Getting Ready (Even If You Have Nowhere to Go)

I realized pretty quickly that I needed to start getting ready each day, even if I had nowhere to go. Even if I didn’t have any Zoom calls lined up. And even if I decided that I wasn’t filming any content for Project Motherhood that day. As silly as it might sound, I found so much power within getting up, working out, doing my simple makeup routine, and sitting in my office to work – even if it was just down the hall.

But why?

Getting ready each day makes me feel good about myself and when I feel good about myself, I’m able to perform my best.

It really is as simple as that.

Feeling good about myself has a huge impact on my overall mental health. I have opened up many, many times over the years about struggling with anxiety, and feeling like I can take over the world helps calm my anxieties on a daily basis.

I love embracing my mom boss attitude and getting ready for the day, is part of that. There is so much power in feeling good about yourself and in a confident headspace and I want all mamas to embrace that, too.

There are also a few other perks.

First, if an opportunity comes up where I need to run out or have an impromptu Zoom call, then I am ready and prepared. Believe me, though, I have no problem with running errands or taking care of business if I haven’t had an opportunity to put makeup on yet – no shame. But it does take the edge off.

Second, working in social media, I’ve learned that if an amazing idea hits or a trend pops up that I want to jump on – you gotta act on it…NOW. The time is always now. I plan a lot of my content months in advance, but you never want to look back and regret missed opportunities. So whenever those moments come up, I’m ready to take them head on.
