Back to school is nearing, whether we are ready for it or not! We get out really late in June here in the city and go back September 8th and it always feels like I blink my eyes and it’s time to set that alarm clock again. (Though this year we will have a little tiny human alarm clock letting us know when to start our day!). I’ve always been quite the obsessive organizer, but being pregnant this summer it has truly gone to the extreme. The core of my crazy antics are this though – when it comes to being organized for back to school it’s not just about getting uniforms and school supplies on time, but making sure the household is ready as a whole. I’m making this happen this year with my friends at Procter & Gamble and buying in bulk at Costco.
Don’t get me wrong, uniforms and school supplies are super important, and you best bet that I’m running around to make sure we have our list and have checked it twice before Baby C gets here, but there is a whole other element to “back to school” that is sometimes overlooked. (Except for by us mamas that is!) You guessed it – prepping the household! This time of year is C-R-A-Z-Y and your family is taking time to adjust from summer mode back into a school routine. In many cases there are sports starting and homework to add back into the mix. It can get completely overwhelming even for the most organized family. This is why I stock up on things I know that I will need from Procter & Gamble at Costco.
First and foremost, the whole buying necessities in bulk idea is pretty genius! I didn’t really “get it” at first because hey – living in a tiny NYC apartment will do that to you. But, I’ve become completely obsessed with our once a month Costco trips (I even bought a couch!) and buying the things that we go through the quickest from there.
We have all had that moment at some point in our life whenever we ran out of toilet paper. Am I right? It’s a million times worse whenever it happens with a house full of kids who are rushing home to use the bathroom after school. So I made sure to pick up Charmin Ultra Soft, which is so softer and every roll lasts longer – leaving your family using less. Mom win!
For us, Branden takes the bus most days. But I will say that we had a heck of a time with the busing system last school year, so we are planning accordingly this school year. I know we live in the city, but Branden attends a school that is rather difficult to get to by train (as in it add an extra hour to the commute), but only 10 minutes or so by car. So my husband ends up driving him on days that they bus is late and for that reason – we keep Febreze Car Vent Clips handy! There is nothing like jumping in the car in the morning whenever you are tired, anticipating sitting in traffic, and trying to rush and being met with the amazing scent of Febreze. These babies keep your car smelling fresh for up to 4 months and are a true favorite in the Cooper household!

Just ran out of toilet paper 3 days ago. Running out of toilet paper is THE WORST!! You are so right that you want to get stocked up on it because life is CRAZY for a few weeks while you get back into the school year rhythm!
