We know this. Sleep is what gives us the energy to actually make it through the day. But, it’s when we stop getting that critical sleep that we need when we actually stop to think about how valuable it is in our lives. This happens at many different points in our lives (late nights at the bar when we have to work in the morning, when we are sick, when people are being loud outside our windows, etc), but it is most detrimental when we know it will be off kilter for a significant period of time – like when we bring a new baby into the world. With the arrival of baby C in August, I’m so happy to have been introduced to the new Bedgear for baby collection and am feeling much more enthusiastic about our families sleep habits in the very near future.
Why I Bedgear For Baby
Sleep truly does fuel the whole family and everything that we do day to day, so whenever you bring that new little one home from the hospital, their sleep patterns affect everyone. Bedgear has put the technology that they have applied for years to bedding and pillows for adults and applied it to products that we use in the crib. I was so excited to meet their whole crew at an event they held at Buy Buy Baby in Manhattan this past Sunday with Ingrid Prueher (known to many as The Sleep Whisperer), and I seriously learned so much!
I wanted to make sure that I got a picture of the crib set up at the event because you can literally see the difference between the Bedgear for baby mattress protector and every brand you have ever used in the past. Their Ver-Tex 6.0 mattress protector is made with heat-deflecting and cool touch performance fabric that actually helps to regulate babies body temperature and keep them from overheating – which often wakes them up at night. The protector will not come loose due to the secure band around its edges, and it is stain and odor repellent with a waterproof barrier.
I also must add that living in the city it is an added bonus that it can be hand wash if need be in cold water and it also quick dry, so I never have to worry about not having it prepared for bedtime.
Then, on top of that will go the Bedgear for baby Dri-Tec crib sheets offer the same functions, plus added surface and side panels featuring their Air-X technology that optimized air flow. The sheets are truly silk smooth and something your new little one will want to snuggle up against night after night, nap after nap. Both the sheet and crib protector are also hypoallergenic. I was seriously so amazed at everything that I learned about these products, and I need to buy their pillows for adults stat! Also, if you read about our living room re-decorating project, you can see that they have amazing pillows for toddlers and kids ,too that are chosen based on size for a guaranteed good nights sleep.
Sleep tips from The Sleep Whisperer:
- The way that babies go to sleep are the way that they expect to go back to sleep every single time.
- Create a log or spreadsheet that you are able to analyze so that you know what works best. It should feature sleep (how long, what time), mood, feeding, and what mom is eating during that week. Monitor for 7 days and don’t be afraid to be detailed – each day should be 1 page in length. Check out my free printable here to print and keep track for yourself!
- Choose 1 options for where baby should sleep whether that be in bed with you, crib, or bassinet.
- Since babies are hotter than we are because they are growing so quickly, focus on breathability in their bed sheets with the bedgear for baby crib sheets.
- Don’t feed baby inside the crib, as this will lead to a need to feed to sleep association.
- Always keep in mind that it takes 1-30 minutes for baby to unwind so they are able to fall asleep.
- You can only fix a sleep situation if you are consistent with it day and night.

I know, you are all amazed and not only thinking about your sleep strategies, but running out to change all the bedding in your entire home! Taking control of something that seems so small can have such a huge impact on your entire families lives. I can’t wait to test out the bedgear for baby crib sheets!

Allison

Do what works for you. I ended up sleeping with both my babies (and still do). We all get good sleep that way.

I remember when my boys were small and having to get some sleep whenever I could since I had to go to work. It can be challenging. One of my editors tried bedgear and loved them.

Sleep is indeed what we all need to refuel our mind, body, and soul. The Bedgear for Babies Collection sounds amazing and would make great gift ideas for any new baby. I really like the Ver-Tex 6.0 mattress protector because it can help regulate the babies body temperature which is so important for good sleep. Thanks for sharing this awesome information.
