Last week, I attended an event for Philips Avent, and it was totally one of those opportunities that came at the right time in my life. We’re about two weeks (give or take) from the arrival of Baby C, and I’m starting to stress about those last few things that I have sorta put on the back burner until the last minute. Feeding is kinda one of those things. (I know, don’t judge me.) But I can honestly say that I’m feeling more confident after the experience I had last week, while having breakfast with Philips Avent, actress Sarah Chalke and Dr. Tanya Altman (who I have loved forever and have her books sitting on my nightstand.)
I’m planning to breastfeed, but because of my breast reduction in high school, will probably have to supplement – which is something I’m trying to come to terms with. The morning of the event, I was getting ready and vocalizing these concern to my husband, whose response was, ” aren’t Avent bottles the brand that we used with Branden?” This totally surprised me, because I didn’t think he would ever remember the gear we used, but that just went to show how much of an impact Philips Avent had on us. So I smiled and headed off to learn more about what has happened since Branden stopped using a bottle.
So news flash (for me at least): there’s an awful lot of newness in the bottle industry! Avent now has the cutest boy and girl themed bottles and their Philips Avent Classic + Bottle is clinically proven to reduce colic, is super easy to clean and is the #1 bottle brand. It’s also worth mentioning (as Dr. Tanya pointed out) that all the lids are interchangeable with other Avent products, so as baby gets older and even moves onto sippy cups – they fit right on.
They also have their wonderful Natural Bottle that are really great for breast feeding mamas (hip, hip hooray!) and mimic an actual nipple so that babies go back and forth easily. And lastly, a product that I didn’t know until next week (yes, apparently I’ve been living under a rock) that Avent carried – their Comfort Breast Pump. This pump allow moms to express milk most naturally (no back aches here!) and hello – can be pumped directly into your favorite Avent bottles!
Both Sarah and Dr. Tanya are super down to Earth women and really “got real” about parenting. As a mom already, I know the pressures that we face pretty much every single day, so I couldn’t appreciate this more and don’t think that Philips Avent could have chosen better people to speak on their behalf.
Which bottle did you use for your babies? I’m calling on my mama tribe and would love to hear everyone’s feedback!
Fashionably Yours,
Allison

I don’t have children but seems to me as long as the babies are loved, fed and healthy it doesn’t matter how they get there.

I just used a standard glass bottle or plastic. Finding the right nipple was the hardest. Once done with that all was good.

I breastfed my first but didn’t even attempt to with my quadruplets, and we loved our Avent bottles!

I never breast fed my babies, but I admire women who can and do. It is the natural thing to do.

Good luck on your choice! I used a combination of bottles – Playtex, Avent (which was our FAVORITE), and store brand. I didn’t have the Avent pump, but did use an adaptor that let me pump into their bottles (thank goodness for the timesaver). Do what’s best for you and your family, and be confident – no matter what you choose! :hearts
