I’ve been sharing a lot of social media lately about how I’ve switched up my diet a bit. Instead of focusing on a strict keto diet, my focus has shifted to healthier foods that help me balance my hormones. I’m not an expert, but I know enough about health and nutrition to know how critical a role that our hornomes play in weight loss, weight gain, and keeping a steady weight.
And you know what? I feel like this shift is just what my body has been needing these days. I also want to add that a huge part of this is adding grace towards myself into my life. I’m so sick of beating myself up for having a treat (or too many!) and not working out as much as I would like. We are all human and not perfect.
I read somewhere that a nutritionist recomends that her clients only aim for perfection with their diet 80% of the time and that really resonated with me. I read that line and had that whole “aha, I can do that” moment. I hope that helps you all, too.

Easy Matcha Latte Recipe: My Superfood Afternoon Drink
If you follow me on Facebook, you know that my new obsession is green tea. I’ve always had a love for it, but the more I learned about the benefits the more that I knew I needed lots of it in my life, and my families, too. We are big tea drinkers in general, cold in the warm months and hot in the chillier months, so its a great way to add some bonus points towards your healthy eating.
I will be honest though: I’ve never actually bought and made my own matcha until recently.
Now don’t get me wrong, a matcha latte has been one of my favorite Starbucks order, but when you learn better you do better. Finding out just how much sugar and icky ingredients are in the Starbucks version made my switch up my routine to make my own version with an easy matcha matte that is supercharged with so many amazing health benefits.
If you’re wondering, what is matcha?
Before you make this awesome matcha latte, you want to know why you’re drinking it. Matcha literally translates to “powdered tea,” and that’s exactly what it is. Instead of brewing the tea, you drink the whole powered form of the green tea, reaping so many benefits.
Health.com describes this as, “Unlike traditional green tea, matcha preparation involves covering the tea plants with shade cloths before they’re harvested. This triggers the growth of leaves with better flavor and texture. The leaves are hand selected, steamed briefly to stop fermentation, then dried and aged in cold storage, which deepens the flavor. The dried leaves are then stone-ground into a fine powder.”

Easy Matcha Latte Recipe
What you will need for my easy matcha latte recipe:
- 1 cup of unsweetened almond milk
- 1-2 tsp matcha powder
- 2 scoops unflavored collagen
- 1 packet of Truvia sweetener
To make the easy matcha latte, simply fill your cup with the matcha powder, collagen, and Truvia, then heat the almond milk to your desired temperature. (You can use other milk alternative or regular milk, too!)
Pour the heated almond milk on top of your powders and wisk until everything is disolved. I tend to like mine a little bit on the stronger side with the matcha powder and sometimes add an extra pack of Truvia to make is sweeter depending on my mood.
This matcha latte will not only give you a wonderful afternoon energy boost, but is packed with protein from the collagen and will help you with glowing skin, and strong nails and hair!
