Essential Oils For Hair
If you are one of those people who are afraid of oil because you think that oil = bad or too greasy, I’m here today to set you straight. And also here to say that I used to be like you. I had really oily skin and hair while growing up and think back to my high school days as some of the most awkward years of my life. My skin was the worst: oily, oily, oily. Because it was so oily, I thought that it was overproducing on it’s own, therefor I used every oil mattifying and grease blotting sheet I could get my hands on. Spoiler alert: it didn’t work.
As I got older, I learned my skin and scalp was doing this because it was actually lacking moisture, and overproducing for that reason. Whenever I finally introduced oil based products into my life, things started to turn around. Then as an adult and jumping right into natural beauty and essential oils, things got even better than I could have ever imagined. Oil helps to replenish moisture in a really big way (among many other wonderful things) and today I’m sharing essential oils for hair that truly work wonder whenever you use them regularly.
Essential oils that work wonders for your hair
Okay ladies! Essential oils for hair go well beyond the surface and will aid in so many things that I’m sure you’re paying a fortune for help with at the salon!
Tea Tree Oil
This is always handy for me because of its antibacterial and antimicrobial properties, that work on your hair and scalp, too! Especially after having babies, we’re always looking for a hair regrowth miracle and this really helps make that happen because it unclogs your hair follicles – making it easier for new hair to grow. Lavender Oil
My favorite lavender oil seems to help with everything and whenever it comes to our hair, it works just as hard there, too. Known for its stress reducing properties, lavender oil works similarly to tea tree oil and helps with hair growth whenever massaged on the scalp. Buy Lavender Oil HERE!
Ylang-Ylang Oil
I love the way ylang-ylang oil smells and often use it whenever I’m making my own perfume or body oil recipe, but it also works wonder for our hair and scalp. This oil is great for people (unlike me) who tend to have extra dry scalps and need a moisture boost. Buy Ylang-Ylang Oil HERE!
Cedarwood Oil
I always have this one handy because I use it whenever I make Chris’ beard oil, (hence why it’s great for the hair on your head, too), This oil helps not only to promote hair growth, but also helps to prevent hair loss. It also has all those great antifungal and antibacterial properties, so it can help with dandruff issues, too. Buy Cedarwood Oil HERE!
Lemongrass Oil
Speaking of dandruff, if that it was you are struggling with, then lemongrass oil will be your BFF! Buy Lemongrass Oil HERE!
Thyme Oil
Thyme oil can be a particularly strong one out of all these oils, but if you’re struggling with hair loss, this is the one you really want to turn to. Thyme oil can be so intense that it has even been known to treat things like Alopecia. Buy Thyme Oil HERE!
How to use essential oils for hair:
- Mix with a carrier oil and apply to hair and scalp. This will be more for a deep treatment. Massage it all in, wrap your hair in a towel on your head and let it sit for 30 minutes or so before showering.
- Add a few drops of the oil directly to your shampoo and conditioner.
- If you notice any type of irritation: discontinue use!
