For Valentine’s Day this year, my family and I had the opportunity to attend Monster Jams at the Izod Center in New Jersey. Having a husband and son who are obsessed with cars, trucks, and motors, I KNEW that this event would be an awesome Valentine’s Day surprise for them! Well, I can honestly say that we ended up having such a blast!
We got there early and got to attend the Pit Party! If you have kids that are really into this sport, I highly suggest getting there early and getting tickets to this pre-event activity. During the Pit Party, we got to walk around the area where the trucks would be later driven, take pictures, meet the drivers, and get autographs! How cool is that?
After the Pit Party, we headed up to our seats to watch the show. Every minute was captivating and it even kept this fashion obsessed Mama entertained. Seeing the look in my boys’ eyes each time those engines started roaring was absolutely priceless…such a FUN family activity!
Interview With Driver Madusa
1) How did you figure out that driving was your passion?
I knew from the beginning that Monster Jam trucks, racing and freestyle were a part of me by the competitiveness, the massiveness of the adrenaline high and how crazy a person really has to be to drive one, and that would be me! I’m an entertainer, have been for over 30 years. That’s what I do and that’s what I’m good at. That’s why I am a champion in everything I do!
2) What first sparked your interest in being a Monster Jam driver?
Nothing sparked me about being a Monster Jam truck driver. I was a pro wrestler for 18 years and I was ready to retire. Then I got a call from Feld Entertainment and they asked if I wanted to be a Monster Jam truck driver. They said, “We need a cross promotion, we need more female fans, we need you. We know about your gear head background of driving dirt bikes, four wheelers and riding your Harley Davidson. So we thought maybe we’d give it a try and reach out and see if you would like to test drive a Monster Jam truck and see what type of relationship we could have.” And here I am 14 years later, the only two time female Monster Jam World Finals Champion and living the good life.
3) Is it difficult to thrive in a male dominated sport?
Really? Are you really asking me this question? Absolutely it is! I feel and I can speak very loud on this because I have been a woman in two male dominated sports and I have been successful at both, champions in both and have a huge fan base in both. As a woman in a male-dominated sport, I realize we need to think harder, play smarter, and always be on our best behavior. We always need to prove ourselves not just because I became a champion once, but that I had to tell them that I was serious. Becoming a champion for the second time, that’s when I got their respect.
4) Because I am a fashion blogger, I have to ask, whenever you aren’t driving, what are you wearing?
I have really never been a woman with tons of make-up or totally narcissistic about myself. However, I always had to look good and was obsessed with my body because I was a pro wrestler. I had to be lean, mean, and an awesome body machine. But I AM a woman of many shoes, Manolo Blahnik’s, Jimmy Choo’s, etc. and I love my handbags. I love a good hairstyle and when it comes to workout gear I’m Lulumon fanatic! Do you think they would ever make a Jimmy Choo fire shoe? Just a dream I have. Lol!
So that should give all my lovely Mamas an idea of how many options we as Mamas really have to keep our home crew revved up on Valentines Day!
What is your favorite family night out with your crew?
Fashionably Yours,
