This time of year is seriously tough on skin. It’s almost like no matter what your skincare type is during every other season of the year, that it changed during cold weather. We get dryer. We need more hydration. The List goes on and on and while I will cover all of those things, too, I bet there’s some stuff you will find to be new information here.

How to Protect Your Skin in Cold Weather
More than any other time of year, during the winter, you do need to switch up your routine a little bit. Simple additions will lead to huge, positive differences in your skin all season long.
Sleep with a humidifier on. Humidifier’s are seriously a magical tool to help add moisture to the air and keep your skin hydrated. Sleep with it on or even leave it running through the day in specific rooms where you find yourself spending the most time. And if they will let you bring them to work, do it!

Turn down the heat…everywhere. I know that whenever the temperatures drop that we want to immediately turn our thermostats up as well as spend more time in a hot shower. As lovely and inviting as this sounds, it doesn’t do anything good for your skin. In order to protect your skin in the cold weather, resist the urge to crank up the heat and your skin will thank you.

Change out of sweaty clothes quickly after a workout. Whether you like to workout in the cold weather or are going from the gym to the car to your house, make sure that you change out of your sweaty clothes immediately. The sweat can cause your skin to get extremely itchy during the winter.
