The keto diet plan has been a big part of my life for years to manage my weight and feel great. Here’s why, even after taking a break, I always come back to keto.

Why I Always Come Back to The Keto Diet Plan
Coconut oil. Cheese. Bacon. Oh my! I’ve shared my love for the keto diet plan so many times over the past couple of years (I even have a great keto guide for beginners here!) and it has remained a part of my life on and off since I was first introduced to it by my health coach. I know that the keto diet plan really is more of a lifestyle than a diet, however, we only live once so I refuse to restrict myself from certain things every single day of my life. So I do the keto diet in waves. I went off of it right before Thanksgiving of last year and remained off of it through the holidays and up until yesterday.
My body always, always knows when it’s time to buckle down and go back to the keto diet plan. For me, keto is a lot more than just managing my weight. Keto helps me sleep better at night. Keto helps keep me regular and my gut in check. Keto keeps me from bloating up and feeling like crap. Keto is super easy to do once you get the hang of it. And most importantly: keto helps give me the energy to fuel me through the day, so that I’m actually able to watch an episode of an adult show with Chris at the end of the day.
I totally understand that the word “keto” is kinda a buzz word these days. So many people are either trying out this way of eating or even scrutinizing it. I think that at the end of the day, you really have to figure out what works best for you. If you’re not committed or fully into it, then you’re not going to stick with it. There are so many amazing keto resources to turn to when looking for information on this way of eating, and I have a really awesome Pinterest board with loads of keto recipes for you to peruse through!
And lastly, as I’ve said before, one of my absolute favorite workouts is to do HIIT (high-intensity interval training), which you can read more here about why these are awesome for women, pairs awesome with the keto diet plan. I love to workout, but like so many of you, I don’t have a ton of time to commit to it each day, so this is where HIIT comes in because my workout takes 32 minutes and I’m done. Then on the in-between days when I have more time, I do a longer weight workout, but that one gets paired with many, many dance parties so I can incorporate Blake, too. Anyways, because you are burning fat instead or carbohydrates on the keto diet plan, I love pairing this way of eating with my high-intensity workouts. You will notice a difference in your body pretty quickly without a ton of effort, and to this busy mama – that’s amazing!
What I’m changing about the keto diet plan this time around
While the keto diet plan does so many amazing things for my body that I always come back to it and will stay really strict with it for months at a time. However, I am doing things a little bit different this time around so that I can stick with it for a longer period of time. So you might say that I’m not even doing keto at all, but I guess to each is own. Here’s what I’m switching up:
- Typically, I go pretty crazy making sure that I stick with 20 grams of carbohydrates per day – which some people might see as really restrictive, and I agree. Because I refuse to be making like three different dinners each night, I’m aiming more in the 35 grams of carbs per day just to keep my sanity. I love using the Lose it App to keep track of these things.
- I’m giving myself cheat days this time around. I know, gasp, this isn’t allowed if you want to stay in ketosis, but I’m doing it. Each week I’m giving myself a break and having one cheat meal and one cheat treat if I want it. This just makes thins WAY more flexible and easy for me.
