There is a reason behind the madness for when certain makeup products need to be used by our thrown away. Let’s take it product by product.

Foundation and concealer (anything cream based) : 6 months

Powders: 2 years

Mascara and eye liner: 3 months

Lip products: 2 years

Why should you follow makeup expiration dates?

So. Many. Reasons.

First and probably the most important: using expired makeup repeatedly can cause breakouts and skin infections. This doubles for products even if they are unopened. But the older your products are, the less they are going to work, which is why you should only buy beauty products whenever you are actually out of the one you are currently using.
