A few weeks ago, I was up in my office working while the kids played down stairs. I’m not gonna lie: the Cooper kids play rough. It was all laughter and giggles until I heard a big crash and then instant tears from Blake. She came running up the steps and into my arms where I learned she got knocked over by her big bro and fell and cut her chin open. Ouch.
Our poor baby cried in my arms and I instantly got her all cleaned up and taken care of. As the days followed and her cut began to heal, I could tell that it was going to scar unless we did something about it. Being a lover of essential oils, I quickly did some research and put together a very basic natural scar remedy to help fade the mark on her chin.

Natural Scar Remedies: Heal Scars With This Essential Oil Blend
These natural scar remedies are so incredibly easy to make! If you make different blends with essential oils frequently, then I’m sure you have a lot of these things laying around your home already. If not, they aren’t expensive and can easily be ordered via Amazon Prime and get to you the next day.
Personally, I always opt to make my own tinctures and blends because you have control . over exactly what’s going into it. Being a clean beauty advocate, I almost always second guess everything that can be bought on a store shelf and make sure that I cross reference everything with EWG before I buy.
How to make this natural scar remedy
All you need to make these natural scar remedies is:
Before we get into these natural scar remedies, I want you to first understand why I chose the three main ingredients: frankincense, cedar wood, and castor oil to help heal scars.
Why Cedar wood oil? This oil is known to be extremely rejuvenating to the skin. It can help to reduce inflammation and even fight any pain that your scar may be causing you.
Why Frankincense oil? Known as one of the most important essential oils to have on hand, frankincense is great to have handy whenever you need to heal scars. Not only will it help to fade the mark over time, but it also helps to even skin tone, promote the growth of new cells, soothe skin, tighten skin, and kill bacteria. Pretty magical.
Why Castor oil? There are a bunch of different carrier oils that you can use, I just happened to have castor oil on hand whenever I created this natural scar remedy. However, I would have still chosen it because the formula is thicker than most carrier oils, which I feel really makes it stick to the scar area (but that’s just me), but it is incredibly moisturizing. More moisture means less scarring.

Simply open up your dropper bottle and add in 10 drops of cedar wood oil, 10 drops of frankincense oil and top it off with castor oil until the bottle is filled. Give a little shake and it’s ready to use! I recommend using it 2-3 times per day for best results.
