A New Way to Love Seafood
I effing love seafood. Seriously, if it weren’t so darn expensive for awesome cuts of it, I would eat it every day and pretend that I lived by the ocean. But instead, I’m here in Pittsburgh with only the Alleghany River a short ride away. Totally not the same. However, I have found a solution that I’m pretty giddy to share with you all today. It’s called LoveTheWild and you’re going to become obsessed with it for so many reasons. Promise.
LoveTheWild has created both seafood kits and microwavable bowls (that are incredibly delish I must add) that make seafood so much more accessible for people every single day. And even more exciting, they are sold at every mom’s favorite place in the whole world: Target! Yes, starting May 12th you can push your red cart down the frozen food aisle and have access to nutrient dense, delicious and readily available through sustainable aquaculture (more on that, keep scrolling). It’s good for you and filled with bold flavor – just like motherhood!
More than anything though, I want to stress to you guys how easy they have made adding more seafood into your life. The bowls are perfect for lunch when you have zero time to put any effort into throwing something healthy together and the kits make busy weeknight meals a breeze. This is the answer to mealtime that you’ve been waiting for.
Here’s why seafood is so important:
You know being uber health-focused, I’m going to also stress how important seafood is in your life. According to the USDA, 90% of Americans aren’t eating enough seafood. 90%, did you read that huge number? No bueno. This is where LoveTheWild comes in. Their farmed fish are free from drugs, hormones, mercury and allllll the other bad stuff. You won’t find it in this fish, which also can give you peace of mind as a busy mom preparing a quick, healthy dinner for your fam.
So, what is aquaculture?
Okay, I told you that I would explain this. I know that this can have a negative connotation, but that’s not the case here. Aquaculture is essentially farming fish, and when done right, meaning with proper certifications, this is a really amazing thing. In fact, their fish has the same omega-3 content as wild fish. And with the need for animal protein projected to double by 2050, it’s really important to have more access to truly healthy seafood.
It’s also important to me that I note how aquaculture also has zero bycatch (meaning no other sea animals harmed in the process) and it helps to relieve the pressure of wild fish stocks. Translation: it’s really, really good for our environment.
