I can feel a surge of emotion pulsing through me as I finally get to type these words. We have waited so long to share our news – our joy – with you all. But, I think that B can show you better than I could ever write…
To say the very least, life has thrown our family some surprises. We have waited for so long to channel everything in the universe to figure out the “right” time to conceive, and we finally got to that point where we couldn’t wait another second to make Branden a big brother. Today, I am sixteen weeks pregnant, and this baby is already so loved.
It all started with us, and boy how has our love grown and shifted and molded into the powerful force that it is today. I’m so thankful for how understanding he has been through all my cravings, my inability to cook dinner most nights, and how I’m ready to call it a night by 9pm at the very latest. He has also only called me out on using the “but I’m pregnant” excuse too much, one time.
Then, wonderful Branden came into our lives seven years ago and he couldn’t be more excited about the expansion of our family and the role as a big brother. I keep trying to remind him what this promotion means, and he’s starting to understand that he’s going to have to help out a little more and be an example for his baby brother or sister.
We’ve always known that we wanted our family of three to be four, it all boiled down to the right timing for us. We had Branden so young that we have immediately dealt with the never-ending “when will you be having baby #2?” questions, and brushed them off as best we could until we were ready as a family.
Me, being a bit of a control freak knew exactly when I wanted us to start trying, already knew where I wanted to deliver, and where I wanted to shop. (Have you all heard of La Belle Bump? It is a wonderful maternity clothing rental service that allows you to stay stylish your entire pregnancy with the latest pieces that fit your style profile!) I have also been hoarding baby things in our closet for a year. A little obsessive? Maybe.
Looking back, I’m so glad that we waited and that there will be an age gap between the two. I’ve been so sick and so tired and Branden has been able to help me out when I needed it when Chris isn’t around and that has truly made a difference. I give all you mamas major props who have toddlers while pregnant!
So in August, we get to experience life as a foursome, feeling like our little family is finally complete. I know that Branden will be an amazing big brother – it’s something he has been waiting for for quite some time. I can’t wait to watch Chris become a Dad again, entering fatherhood this time with more confidence and “Daddy skills.”
So now you know why I’ve been a little MIA from the blog lately, but I can assure you that there is lots of baby goodness, maternity fashion, giveaways, and fun to come! Like I said back in my thoughts on 2016, this year is filled with change for our family and I couldn’t be more excited about all that it brings! I can’t wait to share our journey with you all!
Fashionably Yours,
Allison
