As I get older, it becomes more and more clear just how powerful it is for me to practice gratitude in everyday life.

If you follow me on social media, you know that I just turned 35 this month. While I do truly believe that age is just a number, there are parts of our health that we do need to make sure we focus on as we get older. Living a healthy lifestyle is something that I put at the forefront of everything I do and HOPE that my kiddos catch on and practice what I preach (and do!) whenever they are away from home.
But living a healthy lifestyle is about so much more than just eating healthy (even though that is a HUGE part of it). I’ve learned over my 35 years, and especially recently, just how important it is to practice gratitude on a daily basis.
Practicing Gratitude
The truth is that so much in our daily life is out of our control, but spending moments each day being thankful for the good things in our life is so important and helps promote happier days.
For me, this has been a two-part practice. I start each day thinking about all of the things that I’m thankful for in my life and then if those things are due to a family or friend going above and beyond for me, I tell them. This practice helps to carry on those good sentiments and tends to have a positive ripple effect.
So what’s on my gratitude list today? My vision.
I don’t take for granted that I’m able to see my kids’ and my husband’s sweet faces each day, or that I’m able to drive everyone where they need to be, or work behind a computer screen and have a career that I love. So much of that is due to my eyes and prioritizing my eye health just as much as I do all other parts of my body.
I encourage you all to prioritize your family’s eye health, too, and that’s very easy to do right now with Open Season and all the wonderful savings that VSP Vision Care will bring to your bank account!
I know what you might be thinking, though, “another thing I have to pay for and think about?” I get that. Seriously, I do. I probably come off as much more organized than I actually am, but this is only because I make lists like crazy every single day.
Hear me out: An eye exam actually is a great and easy way to make sure that you are taking care of your overall health, and your family’s overall health. There are so many things that an eye doctor can learn from checking your eyes (ahem: early signs of diabetes!) that making your eye care a priority is something you can’t afford not to do. Enrolling in VSP Vision Care during Open Season gives you convenient access to eye care.
Don’t worry, I have an answer for your money question, too! VSP Vision Care members see great savings on eye care, glasses and more. It’s a win/win if you ask me!
So, I want to hear about what’s going on in your life today, mama. What are you practicing gratitude for? If your vision is on that list, which I’m sure it is, please consider enrolling in VSP Vision Care for your family.
XOXO,
Allison
