I grew up going to Soergel Orchards in Pittsburgh every fall, as soon as the leaves started to change colors. We would get our pumpkins, candy apples, apple cider–the works! Nothing really felt more like fall to me than being there. Now that we are living in the city, we are faced with some options for pumpkin patches near NYC or staying local in the city and picking up an already picked pumpkin at Union Square Green Market.
This year, we decided to travel outside the city, about 30-40 minutes, and visit Secor Farms in New Jersey! It was a wonderfully low key day filled with family friendly hay rides, corn mazes, and a petting zoo. Lastly, we couldn’t get enough of their little market and couldn’t leave without picking up some cider and the red candy apples that I have been longing for!
Pumpkin Patches Near NYC
It seriously couldn’t have been a more beautiful fall day for picture taking–every fall color was highlighted in every picture!
The hay ride only costs $2 per person and takes you on a short ride, driving past a beautiful lake and many different “spooky” scenes they created with scarecrows! You ended your ride at the pumpkin patch with two corn mazes to explore as well. The great bonus was that you weren’t on a time crunch by any means, you could let the many hay rides pass you by until you were ready to return back to the main part of the farm.
The farm featured 3 different corn mazes plus a mini one for wee ones to run through themselves while you can still keep an eye on them!
Looking for some memorable fall family time? This is one of the most lovely pumpkin patches near NYC and definitely worth a visit!
