There are so many words as of late that are being transitioned into our fashion vocabulary, such as “repurposing” (giving garments different uses), “upcycling” (taking something old and transforming it into something new}, and of course “sustainable fashion” ( the act of being conscious of where your clothing is coming from and making purchase decisions based on that information). It’s a lot to take in, let alone adopt this whole new lifestyle!
I believe in making sustainable choices whenever it comes to my clothing and accessory purchases. While everything that I purchase isn’t organic, vegan, or Eco-friendly – I do strive for that in my life. So whether you are making a choice to change your lifestyle with the clothing you wear, or simply want to learn how to live a more minimalist lifestyle, we believe that you can always repurpose your wardrobe and turn 5 different pieces into 5 different styles.
Repurpose Your Wardrobe – 5 Pieces 5 Different Ways
There is no need to have a closet that is flooding into other areas in your home (if you do, check out Box Butler to have this problem taken care of right away!). And it is possible to reuse pieces of clothing that have been lost in your wardrobe to create new styles and an overall more fun wardrobe! Don’t be afraid to mix and match and play around with pieces that were long forgotten– you can’t imagine the hidden gems you will find whenever you go shopping in your own closet!
I also want to apologize in advance for the crappy pictures – it just goes to show how busy life can be sometimes! I ended up having to take pictures instead of modeling them, but you get the idea!
Here are the 5 pieces that I started with:
Black DVF Dress (similar to this) // Red Forever 21 Blazer (similar to this) // Zara Black Leggings // DVF Sequin Tank (similar to this) // Express Wool Camel Belted Pencil Skirt (similar to this)
Here are 5 easy ways to repurpose your wardrobe and create something new!
I’m a HUGE fan of mixing high and low end pieces and am not afraid to pair something that’s been sitting in my closet from Forever 21 for years with something from DVF, today. The two DVF piece that I used came from thredUP, where they have TONS of designer options for fashion lovers to choose from and repurpose your wardrobe at the same time. The leggings, blazer, and pencil skirt are all pieces that have been in my closet for years that I still wear and love!
