What to Include in Your Spring Capsule Wardrobe
Spring is here and I have admittedly been order alll the shoes! It’s been years since I ordered a summer shoe for myself that wasn’t from Target (though, I love Target, but you know…) and I wanted some new options once open-toes shoe weather finally made it’s appearance. It’s important to me to look pulled together, but also keep things as simple as I can with my wardrobe. Whenever I was pregnant with Blake, I shared how I built a maternity capsule wardrobe to take the stress out of getting dressed. That was easy because it was only really for nine months and then a few months postpartum and then I was back to my old shopping ways. As we are preparing to move (this time is the big one and I’ll be sharing more updates on that soon!), I promised myself that I would work on not only simplifying things for spring/summer, but also go through and donate a ton of stuff and toss things that just don’t work for me anymore (like my drawer full of bras that I never wear). If you have a similar mindset, here’s my ideas for building a spring capsule wardrobe that is on trend.
Spring Capsule Wardrobe Tips
Before we go any further, I want to start with a few tips for putting together your spring capsule wardrobe before you officially begin. Taking these points into consideration will streamline your wardrobe and help overall so that you never find yourself saying “what am I going to wear today?”
- Think about a color theme that works together (you can apply my example below to any color theme that you choose!)
- Remember that this really can be translated into every other season (just replace shorts and crops with pants, etc)
- I try to divide my wardrobe into two sections (fall/winter and spring/summer) and make it a larger spring capsule wardrobe. You don’t have to do it this way, I totally get that it kinda negates the “capsule” approach, however, it makes things easier for me.
- I always incorporate a few patterned pieces, but focus mainly on basics.
- My biggest tip of all when building your spring capsule wardrobe: if you find a piece, like a great maxi dress that you feel like you can’t live without, buy it and use that as your inspiration for everything else to build off it. It’s much easer to stay things that way!
