I strongly feel like blazers are a wonderful thing to have hanging in your closet no matter what body shape you are. They are so versatile and can even be worn with denim to dress up an otherwise more casual look. Due to their popularity, they are even being made in much more unstructured silhouettes in comfortable fabrics that fit our very busy lifestyles. If you identify as the strawberry body shape, then today I will be guiding you through the shopping experience of buying a new blazer that will compliment your personal shape.
Strawberry Body Shape: Shopping For Blazers
I hope that you are all having a wonderful Tuesday! Sorry for the late post, but I spent my morning celebrating fashion, motherhood, and blogging at the wonderful Fashion Forward Conference and it was such a great experience! It is always motivational for me to hang out with some like-minded mamas and feel empowered about being an influencer in the fashion realm!
Anyways…the morning started off with a wonderful fashion show for both kids and moms featuring brands such as J.Jill, Miracle Suit (which now has more than just bathing suits–stay tuned!), CAbi Clothing, GwynnieBee and more! Anyways, the fashion point that I’m trying to make is that beyond the guidelines listed below for the strawberry body shape, I can honestly say it’s an especially good time to look for blazer-like pieces this fall. By this I mean more structured sweaters, blazers made of knits–basically cozy pieces that are perfect for layering but still work/business meeting appropriate!
Shopping For Blazers For The Strawberry Body Shape
Avoid: With a strawberry body shape, it’s important to steer away from anything boxy or over-sized in any way, as it will be overbearing on your shape and make you appear top heavy. I hate to stay steer away from a certain color palette, but I’m going to go ahead and say it for the strawberry body shape: stay away from light colors in your blazer or a mix of lighter colors on top and darker on the bottom! Lastly, anything that adds extra bulk or definition in the shoulder area should be immediately tossed aside!
Look For: Focus on smaller lapels and coats with single or few buttons. Any blazer that has a deep v-neck will also falter your figure greatly.
Fabrication: If you want to be playful, feel free to choose fabrics that will add extra volume in the waist to help balance out your strawberry body shape, as this is one shape that doesn’t need to be afraid to play with this component!
Silhouettes: Peplum shapes should be your go to silhouette as they taper in at the waist and then flair out–this balancing out your broad shoulders.
