Ahhh sweet motherhood. The time in our life when we are in a continuous cycle of shopping online and receiving boxes from UPS at our front door. Am I right? The amount of things you need after birth for this little teeny, tiny human being is endless. This time around, I really thought I had it all under control. I had been stocking up on diapers, wipes, got all the gear and had a huge box of in perfect condition hand me down clothes delivered from my sister. I thought that I was set. Then we brought Blake home and I realized there were things that I forgot.
So what were these infamous 3 items? (When I tell you, you will be running out to buy them, too.) I will reveal them shortly, but first, I want to introduce you to diapers.com – which totally saved my butt whenever I realized that I didn’t have it all figured out. There were quite a few things that drew me to their awesome website: you can order a bit of everything there (not just diapers), they always offer free 1-2 day shipping when you spend $49 or more (I placed my most recent order at 9pm and for my purchase the next afternoon) and everything is handpicked by experts. Here’s my 3 items:
1. Comfy/lounge clothes
Whenever we find out that we’re preggo, we immediately either start buying clothes or have wonderful friends and families ready to give us a big ol’ bag of hand me downs. Plus gifts! I had a mixture of all of these and whenever little Blake came along, I realized that what we needed clothing wise to get through most days were just cute, simple lounge clothes (think onesies, lightweight pjs, leggings, jogger pants, etc) – and LOTS of them! Yes, there are so many cutesey outfit to have and wear, but in reality, you aren’t out and about with a new little one much to show them all off. Basic are best! (Blake is rocking Rosie Pope Baby Coveralls.)
2. Formula
I breastfed and had planned on breastfeeding from the beginning and was so determined that I would master this skill that I didn’t quite think of what I would need to fill in the gap during the time when I wasn’t producing enough or before my milk fully came in. Formula came to the rescue and I wish that I just had one on hand when we came home from the hospital. We opted for the Similac Organic, but they carry everything!
3. Something healthy for mom
Hello…we always overlook ourselves. I’m so thankful that Diapers.com has a huge supply of all types of healthy supplements, drink, shakes, teas – everything for moms. It’s really important not to overlook your nutrition, especially in the early days of new motherhood when you kinda forget to eat. In my experience, it’s just been easier to make a healthy shake and drink my breakfast as I plow through my day. If mom isn’t taken care of, then all the other things you need after birth doesn’t matter. (I’m drinking Vega One All-in-one Nutritional shake and love them!)
