How To Use Liquid Highlighter + Giveaway

Since we started dedicating one day a week to the discussion of beauty and products back in March, I’ve been overwhelmed with a slight obsession for products that I never had before! Don’t get me wrong–I love a Sephora day, but I never really felt that passion for beauty products and what they can really do for your appearance–until this past March. Lately, I’ve been exploring the wonderful world of highlighters, which can completely change your whole look as long as they are applied correctly.

What does a highlighter do? It will simply shed light on the beautiful contours of your face–in some cases giving you an allover thinner appearance. You want to make sure that you are choosing a color that works with your skin tone and isn’t too dark.

I was recently introduced to the wonderful line of liquid highlighters by Japonesque, which are really beautiful! But at the same time, unless you have someone guiding you through the process of achieving this look, you may become overwhelmed! So our beauty contributor, Heather Gregor has supplied you with a super simple tutorial on using these products so that your contours will look flawless!

Step by Step Guide to Using Liquid Highlighter From Japonesque

First, it’s really important whenever you want to achieve great contours that you are working in a well lit room and have a mirror that you can really get up close and personal with. Since I know that most of you will be trying this out in your tiny NYC bathrooms–I highly suggest trying out the amazing Simplehuman Sensor Mirrors. I have the mini, which is great for small spaces! It all simulates natural sunlight, so you are better able to see color variation, which is perfect for highlighting! Step 1: Apply the Japonesque primer all over your face.

Step 2: Apply your foundation as normal.

Step 3: Apply the Japonesque highlighter to your cheek bones (ff you aren’t sure where to highlight, look for the “apples” that emerge when you smile) and then highlight the bridge of your nose. Blend.

Step 4: Apply the rest of your makeup as normal!
