Wardrobe Staples For Your Postpartum Body
I write as much as I possibly can about loving our postpartum body because…gosh…it’s such a confusing time. And I know that doctors define the postpartum body as being just a few weeks after childbirth, but I honestly define it a bit differently. I define everything that happens after the baby forever and ever as being postpartum because giving birth changes both you and your body forever. And I don’t mean in bad ways either! Heck – I’m so much stronger and confident after having our babies than I ever have been before. But it took some time to get there.
I wrote recently about boosting your confidence after having a baby and made the suggestion of purchasing a few postpartum outfits to have on hand whenever you first get home from the hospital and I stand by that. Yes, you will probably still want to wear your maternity clothes right away because they will be the most comfortable things as your body is healing, but you will get sick of them quickly. Not being able to fit into most of your pre-baby clothes right away, can be frustrating and to avoid those feeling, I suggest having these 5 wardrobe staples for your postpartum body waiting in your closet.
And Ahem: you will not find yoga pants anywhere on this list.
1. SPANX bottoms
Here’s the thing: SPANX bottoms are the bomb. They will make you feel like a million bucks after having a new baby and feeling unsure about your body. Personally, I’ve been drawn to the camo print leggings and recently saw someone out at an event complete dress them up for a night out. There’s so much you can do with these!
2. Buttery soft, boyfriend tees.
You can wear these with leggings, sweat pants and even under your favorite blazer. They can easily be dressed up (see below) for a night out or worn to feel cozy in at home.
3. A fancy blouse.
For those moments whenever you just want to wear something nicer than a tee. Since your body will probably be changing dramatically over the months and even years after having a baby, so I don’t recommend dropping a ton of dough on fancy tops – but have one awesome one hanging in your closet that you feel like a rockstar in.
4. Statement earrings.
Dress up your favorite comfy tee with an awesome pair of statement earrings and you will honestly be good to go!
5. A maxi dress.
As I’ve gotten older, maxi dresses have become one of my favorite things. They are just as comfortable as pajamas, but you looked all dressed up and ready to take on the world instead.
