Just look at this beautiful, delicate, yet vibrant, Bakuchiol plant. Native to India and derived from seeds of the plant Psoralea corylifolia, bakuchiol has been used in traditional Chinese and Ayurvedic skincare remedies for centuries. If this picture could talk, it would say that it’s here to help you age backwards.

What is Bakuchiol and Why is it so Amazing?
Bakuchiol (pronounced “buh-koo-chee-all”) is the plant-derived Retinatural Complex used in all of our Beautycounter Countertime products (bakuchiol skin care) that is seriously magical. This formula reinforces the skin’s fragile moisture barrier for a soothed, nourished complexion, and of course – prevents against wrinkles. It basically offers the same skin benefits of a retinol, without the irksome side effects. If you have used retinol in the past, you probably know by now that not only is it toxic, but it is extremely irritating and can make your skin even more susceptible to sun damage. Until now, the only way to combat these awful side effects was to load up on moisturizer, but now bakuchiol products are here to blow up the beauty industry.
I am HERE FOR IT.
“Bakuchiol functions similar to a retinol, increasing cell turnover thereby stimulating collagen production and diminishing signs of aging such as fine lines, wrinkles, skin laxity, and overall photodamage,” Sejal Shah, a board-certified dermatologist in New York City, told Allure.
Furthermore, a study was recently published in the British Journal of Dermatology outlining that bakuchiol does in fact work just as well as a retinol, but it was also vegan.
So what do bakuchiol products do?
This lightweight, antioxidant packed miracle works in to many different bakuchiol products to help with aging, fine lines, to diminish dark circles, and even helps combat acne and relieve acne scars. I told you it was amazing.
Our entire Countertime Collection uses bakuchioll and Swiss Alpine Rose, which is known for its ability to protect itself against dehydration and other environmental stressors at the highest altitudes of the Swiss Alps. Together, these two components make this skin care collection unstoppable and with you seeing almost instant results.
I personally just switched my skin care regimen and am trying out our bakuchiol skin care at Beautycounter. I’m 33, so it’s important to me to start using products with anti-aging properties, but it also gentle enough for my acne prone skin. As a bonus, this entire collection is super moisturizing, so it’s especially great for the dry, winter months. The smell of the products are heavenly, and it comes from the Swiss Alpine Rose, so there aren’s any added fragrances.
