Winter Coats For Women – Look Cute, Stay Warm

Every year at this time we are preparing for the chilly weather to get even colder. It almost seems like fall comes and then winter hits –boom–like a slap in the face! Whenever we are choosing our winter coats, the goal is always the same–to look cute, but stay warm. Last year when we shared our top 5 favorite winter coats for women, we searched through some fun trending styles that featured royal blues, over-sized silhouettes, and military style. While some things have changed this year, aspects still remain the same with winter coats for women.

What’s Trending in 2014 ?

If you are on the market for a new coat this season, revert back to our fall fashion guide for all the trends you need to be paying attention to. When looking for color, focus on rich emerald greens and playful plaids. You can always stick to the basic neutrals, as those are our staples that never go out of style–but sometimes its fun to wear a winter coat that really pops!

In terms of silhouette, the over-sized styles are rolling over from last year and are still very popular–especially the cape coats. On the other hand, the complete opposite silhouette is increasing in popularity–the super body hugging, tailored looks. Many designers are even tapering coats way in at the waist and adding extra volume to the bottom.

I also just want to throw in this added note: when shopping for winter coats, while you are making sure you leave space for layers underneath –don’t overestimate! I have bought coats too big in the past and then found myself not wanting to wear them because I felt like they added extra bulk. Be mindful!

Winter Coats For Women

 

1.I love the plaid bodice and solid sleeves in this Michael Michael Kors Colorblocked Plaid Coat! It’s very chic and wearable in the day or night and easily a staple coat that you will have for years to come! I would dress this up by adding a beautiful brooch to the lapel for a little bit of bling!

2. This Helene Berman Cape with Collar is a little bit less for everyday wear, but beautiful nonetheless! I’m totally crushing on the emerald green color and can totally see myself rocking this as we transition into the colder weather or if I’m getting dressed up for an event.

3.  This Calvin Klein  Belted Trench Coat is a total closet staple and so warm because of the length!

4. The Vivienne Westwood Anglomania Talik Coat is at a much higher price point, but I had to include it because its so beautiful! There really is nothing cooler to me right now than this coat with its effortless shawl collar and cozy fabrication. You will want to brag about this one!

5. Rachel Roy has done it again with this flawless Roy Brushed Plaid Coat–beautiful in every way. Another show stopping piece that can easily become part of your daily winter wardrobe, but adds a little pop with the contrasting hues.
