Going through different seasons in my life, one thing that remains constant is my workout routine. Seriously, workout routines for women are more important than you might think!

Why Workout Routines for Women Are So Important
I didn’t always love to workout. Just like anything else, it can take time. I grew up dancing (ballet, jazz, pointe – everything) and ran here and there. As I got older, I preferred working out in the gym and would also run outside when the weather permitted. After I became a mom, it became all about those at home workouts that could be done whenever the kids were sleeping or while they were watching a beloved show. I turned to high-intensity workouts because they are quick and burn a ton of calories, and then during the warmer months, I used my jogging stroller and hit the streets. We change, life changes, but our fitness routine can easily change, too. They are versatile and necessary: this is why workout routines for women are so important.
Why do I workout?
For me, it’s to be all around healthy. This answer will be different for everyone though, and it’s important to know your “why.” I always say that whenever our kids have kids that I want to be able to chase them around and not be out of breath. Knowing why you are putting time and effort into getting in your weekly workout will be the driving force to get you through them – even on days when you just don’t feel like doing the work.
I would be lying if I said that I woke up completely ready to jump into my workout each day. Heck no! There are days I am sluggish, days where I skip – I’m not perfect. But for the most part, I stick with it because I know why I’m doing it, and know that reminder will help you, too.
What keeps me fueled to workout?
There is absolutely no way that you can have the energy to get a regular workout in if you aren’t fueling your body or filling it with crap. That’s where Health Warrior comes in. I love having my chia seed bars handy that I can grab first thing in the morning or for a post-workout boost and know that my body is being filled to the brim with good stuff and only 3 grams of sugar. Each bar is only 100 calories and the perfect workout companion.
How to create workout routines for women
First, you want to make sure that you are creating a workout routine that you are actually going to stick with. If you want to start classes, great, but do something that you’re not completely intimidated by and excited to try out. If you’re like me and planning on working out at home, you need to keep the same thing in mind. You will never stick with it if you dread it.
Second, you need to think about your goals. For me, I have certain areas that I focus on and cater my workout around reaching those goals. For instance, I do about 3 days a week of cardio (because that really helps keep my belly at bay and is honestly invigorating to me) and at the end of 2018, I started incorporating 2 days a week of weights into my routine, which is making a difference in my targetted body parts, too.
I also recommend speaking with a health coach who can help put you on the right path, too. I hired one after I had Blake and between her advice and that of my soldier husband, I feel confident in the workout routine for women that I’ve been doing.
Lastly, your workout routine needs to be planned into your day. Yup, that to-do list sitting next to you should have your workout routine on it as well as your errands. It needs to become a part of your life. I workout typically around 10:30 am after I get all my immediate morning work out of the way. Blake runs around in the basement and sometimes joins in. I take breaks for dance parties with her and then shower and move along with my day. Maybe you would do better getting up first things in the morning to complete your workout routine for women or perhaps you are someone who works out better at night. Either way….you gotta do it!

Tips for getting through your workout routine for women
I thought that I would end this post with a little tip session instead of my normal closing paragraph. There are parts of my workout that I dread, these are typically the most challenging parts for me and this is how I get through them mentally:
- Focus on how you will feel after the workout is over
- Have an amazing playlist or music pumping
- Do a quick 5-minute meditation before to get yourself centered and pumped for your workout routine
- Repeat “I’ve got this! I’m a rockstar!” in your head during the hard parts and even if you don’t believe it yet, you eventually will
- Think about other things (sometimes I think about bills that need to be paid, a weird dream I had, etc it can easily take you away from your tough moment)
- Focus on your body positioning (this will help you focus on doing the exercise correctly, and not worry about how many reps you logged)
I joke all the time that I know I’m in good shape because I’m able to do mountain climbers and yell at Blake to stop doing something all at the same time – hah! I know you will be at that same place before you know it (if you aren’t already, that is).
XOXO,
Allison
