I’m not trying to wish summer away – promise. BUT, whenever you don’t have a Hampton’s summer home and you are spending your days sweating your ass off beside every NYC splash pad while your kiddo jumps around gleefully, it gets old fast. So today’s post is all about the newness that comes with September, the awesome trends that fall brings, and where to purchase some look alike designer pieces for less!
While we see many very eccentric looks go down the runway at Fashion Week’s all over the world, I’m focusing on trends that can actually be worn in our real lives, without worrying we look like a clown. Yes ladies, its time for some real mom style!
6 Fall 2015 Runway Trends…And Where to Get Them For Less
We all love designer pieces – who wouldn’t? They are well made, fashion forward, and – in most cases – will last you a lifetime. But, in learning the difference between style and trends, we can quickly see that some of these new fashions might not be around for long. So, don’t pour your whole bank account or paycheck into these coveted trends and instead shop smart! There are so many great websites to utilize to shop cheap yet still look like you dropped the big bucks (check out my favorites in the scroll bars below each trend description)!
1. Bling!
Jewelry trends change just as much as clothing and can in fact, make or break an entire outfit. This season, bling is in and going a little bit overboard with chunky jewelry will turn heads in your direction – in a good way! My favorites happen to be bangles and stunning bib necklaces because they are so easy to throw on and can take an outfit from day to night – even if you are just wearing black leggings and an over-sized, solid colored tee, trust me.
2. Pleats
Pleats are fun, but yes – they do require getting a little bit more dressed up. Keep a fab pleated skirt handy in your closet for days where you feel like putting in a bit more effort. And don’t forget, pleats don’t necessarily have to be done in solid colors! Have fun with your pleats this season and create some grown up, school girl outfits.
3. Gloves
Winter gloves come in so many different, beautiful shapes, sizes, colors, and embellishments. THIS was the main way we saw designers of all kinds add accessories to their beautiful creations down the runway! There are glove silhouettes that appeal to every single personality, whether you prefer silky satin cascading up your arm, or something short and sweet that enables you to text. HINT: This is also a great place to add some bling!
4. High Waist
I know that we sometimes get nervous whenever we hear the words “high waist,” but I want you to CALM DOWN! I get that it’s not for everyone, but in most cases (with the right fit), everything with a high waist actually can be quite slimming and comfortable. You won’t regret this addition to your fall 2015 wardrobe!
5. Plaids
We talked about plaids in last year’s fall guide, and this trend is still going big. When done right, this has been one of my absolute favorites! Whenever I think of fall weather, I immediately think of pretty plaids peaking out behind cozy sweater cuffs and collars to add a touch of embellishment, or even a way to incorporated into your favorites leggings and tights. Plaid seriously is the perfect cold weather print!
6. Tights
I’ve always loved tights and was so happy to see so many waltzing down the runways – with the new twist of intricate details added. Not only are tights great for layering under skirts for warmth, but they add such an eye-catching style element that this is not a trend to be overlooked. And as a bonus, out of all the trends out there and those I’ve highlighted above, tights are definitely the cheapest trend to come by!
Which fall 2015 runway trends are you ready to add to your wardrobe?

I love gloves – soft leather. Mmmm. Living in Montana I need nice warm gloves. I’m also a fan of pleats but not the care and upkeep of said.
